24: Liverfool

The Lord of Leisure | September 25, 2006

Well friends, the space adventurer has landed here tonight after another gruelling weekend of intrigue, despair, and betrayal. The deepest darkest depths of the soul mapped out before my eyes like a Childs dot to dot, merely making the truth more obvious….

As you are all aware, Saturday I made the trip to Liverpool in honour of Simon’s birthday, and as you are also aware I had misgivings about the whole thing considering the last time I went, it didn’t really sell the place to me. In fact, twas the first time in over three years that I had been on a night out there at all. I agreed to go this time as well, as stupid as it sounds you have to give things a second chance, maybe even third and forth. And it was a chance to see some of the people I had fobbed off before and see if in fact if they could stand me in a public setting and I them.

This time I also had backup in the form of Natalie, and in case you are wondering, yes I am seeing her a lot and I consider myself off the market for the time being. I care for her a great deal (maybe putting that lightly :) and when I asked her if she wanted to go, she was more than happy to go with me, it seems it doesn’t matter what we do, she just wants to be with me.

24: Day 5 of Red Bull Guzzling

The Lord of Leisure | September 23, 2006

Well it is now Saturday and day 5 of the expereiment to see what happens when you drink Red Bull, or it’s far cheaper cousins as I prefer!! Last night, discovered while on an imprompto night out in shrewsbury, that while I was awake, it appears my personality has been altered somewhat. The award winning sense of humour that I display on a daily basis, had been dulled and i was a lot slower in picking up what people say, My speech become disjointed, unable to say correctly what I was thinking.

For lack of a better way of putting it, I am drunk without being drunk. And I only started to realise this really once I stopped the red bull for a while last night and went to water. Dear god, this shit is deadly. While I have had no problem in staying awake for what I needed to achieve this week at work and at home, it appears the brain is still slowly but surely slowing down, and would perhaps reach a point where you still crash. That I don’t know.

I will need some of this stuff for tonight to at least keep some wits about me in Liverpool, but long term, I don’t know if this course of action is wise.

24: End of Day 2 on Cheap Asda Red Bull

The Lord of Leisure | September 21, 2006

So far I have stayed awake better but how it lasts is another thing. Also not sure if it still placebo effect, that I think i am more awake becuase of the drink or it is because it is filled with all sorts of stuff, like taurine (whatever the hell that is)

The experiment continues. Just a friendly note at half 1 in the morning letting you all know that techincally I am still alive, and also the timetable has changed slightly, but still don’t know what the final outcome is yet! Isn’t this exciting?

24: Time grows short…

The Lord of Leisure | September 18, 2006

Well it has been a week tuesday that I last posted what’s been happening in Funkytown. It has been indeed another interesting one to say the least…

Well now first off, I took some time finally to stay at home for a change and have a tiny bit of rest. You see I have been feeling burned out for a couple of weeks, and it appears that the whole summer is catching up to me. I have been feeling tired all the time, i have been waking up later and later, and there have been a couple of times where I have been almost asleep at the wheel of the car, only slapping myself in the face (a pleasure which many people want but will never get) has kept me going. I have been wondering what the hell is wrong with me, and I have yet to reach a conclusion.

Is it true, that doing so much will eventually take some sort of toll on the body. Sure I have reached the real-time action clock-ticking showing what else is happening age of 24, but this doesn’t happen overnight. If anyone has any tips for staying awake more efficently, please please post a comment!!! I would be eager for any solutions. Even considering starting to gulp huge amounts of Red Bull (tastes like sick to me, but times may become desperate) and become a caffine addict if only to stay awake long enough to finish things i need to do.

Previously on 24…

The Lord of Leisure | September 11, 2006

Scene: Warehouse, Southside Oswestry

Int: Paul Hughes, Space Adventurer restrained with copious amounts of rope, while looking like he has been through hell. A shawdowy figure walks around, keeping the face out of the light.

Paul: You think you can get away with this?
Shadowy Figure: Of course I can, I already am in fact. Even as we speak, the tides of war are hovering over this land, and a new order will reign. Humanity will finally face the consequences of its actions.
Paul: There are so many innocent people out there! Why would you do this? After what i have been through, at least tell me why.

The shadowy figure steps into the light, the space adventurer’s heart quickens, as the awful truth is revealed in the strangers face. It was….

Ah, well that’s a story for another time! Hello campers, Naturally I can tell you have all been dying to know what the weekend held for me as of course, twas the day of the second coming, either that or my birthday, but the jury’s still out on that one.

I have turned 24, which means for the next year, I will live like Jack Bouer, fighting bad guys, in real time with a clock bit which will reveal what other people are doing at the same time etc etc….Hence the opening sequence of suspence. You open big on things like this!!

You win some, you lose some, then you win some again?!?!

The Lord of Leisure | September 5, 2006

Wow three updates in one night, god I must be bored!! Nah fact fans, the space adventurer is mearly taking time out from his busy schedule to bring yet more pearls of wisdom and rays of sunshine out of his arse!

The weekend has provided an awful of closure on events past gone, such as the Mini-Saga, which I now know can’t be a mini-saga, as it is more than 50 Words. Thank you Sian for that contribution!! LOL! Yes, it’s true, I have patched things up with the woman, and we are friends. Perhaps you are wondering why?

Well the fact of the matter was that I did over react, and besides, if you keep in touch with colourful past girlfriends, the future always seems to be nothing if not interesting. I don’t mean that in a bad way btw. I like interesting. Just Interesting can mean so many different things to people. Then again I could spark the whole debate of what’s normal and how normal means different things to people, but I will save that for another entry.. : )

Fujitsu: Part of the Evil Takazuki Corporation

The Lord of Leisure | September 5, 2006

Well friends, now it has been a few days into my new job at Fujitsu, I thought I would enlighten, well mainly the geeks who read this page on what has gone on so far:

So far I haven’t screwed up anything big, which is really surprising actaully as it appears I have forgotten so much of my previous knowledge it is borderline: What the hell am I doing again? :)

But I have begun learning new things again which I wanted to look at for a long time, like Active Directory, DNS, (WINS is still used for the time being until it is all fully swapped over from NT to 2003) and this has been the very first job where I am using new OS in a working environment and I have been made very welcome by Mr Comaish, my new boss, who seems to have made sure I have everything I need to get going. Becuase I have known a lot of people from my Backup & Recovery days there, it has taken next to no time in settling in. Which was nice.

The way you work is different to DTS. It seems you are left to your own devices providing you are maintaining the service expected, and that is fair enough. Your own initative very much comes into play, and it is a welcome change. Now if only I knew what to do….. : ) And the best part of it so far, has been telling Desktop Support on Live how to change things, instead of doing them yourself. Work Slaves, Work!!! WOOOO, I have power, bwahahahaha!!!
