The Lord of Leisure | August 30, 2006

The last two blogs entries have been edited to remove any mention of people who I have now pissed off past the point of no return.

EDIT FROM EXPORT in 2007
I am in two minds whether to reinstate what was written, It did happen a long time ago and since then not really spoke to the people in question, it’s more of a “bearly tolerate my existance” kind of relationship I seem to have. Who knows? Tis a strange world.

Just a quicky (Edited)

The Lord of Leisure | August 29, 2006

Well i am afraid This will be a short post.

(Content removed by request)

On a more happy note now, friday night and the lan party was quite good with a few different games played, beers consumed and shit laughed about till sunday. Friday of course I must say there was a “HOT TUB” Party at Liquid and Diva in Shrewsbury, with ladies striping and playing with each in the tub. I am not joking, and it was so terrible to watch :) (Yes there are pictures, just not sure whether to post them or keep them to myself!!! BWAHAHAHA!!)

Tried ringing glyn on Saturday Night but nein answer. Then spent sunday afternoon with Natalie, catching up on things that had gone on. In the meantime, I caught up with comments and came across that one with eyebrow rasing statement. Also getting confused about whoever chatty is. You may have noticed comments by chatty left behind.

Monday, was a day of dossing about, and today was a complete waste of time at work as the DNS/DHCP servers were down and for some bizzare reason servers were configured for DHCP instead of Static addresses. WOOO!

Well space adventurer fans, that’s it for now, will post more in detail later.

We’ve tasted Matt’s Mum’s Flaps (Edited)

The Lord of Leisure | August 25, 2006

Hello fact fans, and other people who like things, the space adventurer is back in da house!!
Oh what a night indeed, I will report on mr v festival in a mo but first the headlines:

BONG
It was my leaving doo last night in the place called Telford with loads of workmates, and random people turning up willy nilly, hello to you Georgina and Denise!! My man, Mr Chris Hancock was also on board for a good night out, we started out after work, i failed to bring something to wear on the night so bought some shirt from next and proceeded to look sexy and dashing (It’s my blog I can say complete bulls**t if i want to!!) We had a hell of a good time out all of us, and I must give a special mention to Sara’s sister, Natalie who was an fantastic, interesting, different and attractive woman who has done very well despite it seems pretty sad affairs that had taken place earlier. We got on very well it seems, we all (people at work + Natalie) met for lunch today and well it was alright again but who knows. I may have frightened her by now!! LOL!

BONG
This weekend will see me out in shrewsbury most of time with Steve and Matt, basically dossing about on the town, playing games at a lan party, bit of barbique on the go, and drinking far too much. Excellent!! On a rather sad note, this did mean that I miss out on seeing my good buddy and pal, mr Glyn, who i completly forgot about seeing this weekend and i am rather annoyed about that, however buddy I will ring you sat night, so at least i am there in voice alone!!

V FESTIVAL Lowdown
And of course now to the main part of the blog which i have threatned so much to talk about: The V festival itself. Of course i suppose i knew it was going be bizzare, when the coach stopped in the huge amount of traffic, almost everyone ran out the coach to relieve themselves or smoke, and then the traffic started again, the coach leaving without them, and I went to the back to watch them run after the coach, waving at them!! BWAHAHAHA!

I got there about 9, after steve met me in the blue campsite, which was a) huge and b) a sea of tents already, which meant finding your own could be a nightmare. Luckly Matt was kind enough to pitch the tent for me earlier on, so all was well, and that was when i met some of the people from Guildford, Gareth, kate, Mr oliver, Rich and others. I also met Matt’s brother, John for the first time which was a real honour as he was a complete hoot, we had a great time talking complete bo**ocks! We wandered around the palce the first night having a look at the fun fair etc, found a sex shop which was nice, Millets where I aquired extra tent pegs, and danced like flids in the JJB Arena, as shown below in the V FEST Pics post. We watched Dodgeball afterward on the big screen in the JJB, and then I proceeded to annoy various women in tents, of which John came and joined in too!! Quality!

Saturday, after 4 hours kip, we went forth, had brekky, sorted out who we were going to see, I met a very attractive red head lady whose name escapes me but still never mind and then trundled down to the arenas, of course we stood like plebs waiting to go through the huge crowd, where it seems the organisers failed to tell people that campers could walk straight trough instead of waiting. Gits! Anyway the list from saturday I saw was, Lily Allen, “Dandy One Hit Wonder Wahols”, Hard-Fi, Sugababes, The beatiful South, who were one of the first bands playing where everyone knew every song they did, and the JJB Arena was bouncing! Groove Armada, Razorlight, though I was gutted that i missed Razorlight singing “In The Morning”, but I did get to sing along to “Somewhere Else” so i was happy!! We all got split up on Saturday, which is easy to do at an crowded place. But still was a great chatting to random people, getting rained on, watching people wearing full waterproofs sliding around the mud (see pic)

I so want to do that now!

with a huge crowd watching, Throwing inflatable phones around at peoples heads, getting pulled into a mosh pit going at the Hard-fi performance, though hard-Fi do sound way off singing live, dear me! Found the bars closed at 11pm which was crap mind, the beer wasn’t cheap either, you had to queue for bleeding tokens and then queue for the actual drinks. If it’s one thing we brits can do, it’s queue! :)

Sunday rolled around and we went for it all over again!! WOO! One of my tent poles was bravely used to hold the england flag we had up in crowds, and I also “aquired” a dolphin with a huge penis from a girl in one of the tents next to us. It was an injoke from friday that the inflatables on one stall, the dophins with the pink handles looked like they had a hard-on. Thus Moby Dick was born!!

Saw the Divine Comedy who were very good, and one of my fave bands so couldn’t miss them. Very good live, and may go and see them again later this year. Orson, who again was one of my faves, simply becuase of No tommorow, got the crowd really going without having to do anything really, and most of their songs had some real get-up-and-go in them. Proper Bo.

The others, were Girls Aloud in the JJB again, which was packed with drunk men wanting to leach at them,I was proud to be one of them!! And I must say, GO Nicola!! She be looking mighty fine, boy howdy. And They covered I predict a Riot, which was actually quite good. The male dancers got pelted with bottles etc, and one of them got angry and threw back something into the crowd, to which everyone cheered at, and that made him more angry!! You couldn’t ask for better enterainment!! We finshed the evening with Keane (Druggy singer ahoy!!), The Editors, and Finally the band that everyone wanted to see but i had never heard of, Kasibean or whoever. They were fantastic, and everyone was jumping singing allsorts. Utter Brilliance!!

We are all parted ways on the Monday, very tired but very happy. I must say though it was very very expensive the weekend, and I am glad once again I took some food with me. And banning most peoples drink just so they have to spend money, nothing short of greed.

There is a little bit of talk next year of Glastenbury, I hope we can get the tickets but with what, a two hour window to buy, and it seems limits of 2 tickets judging from what was on teh website for 2005, it will be difficult, but not impossible!! COME ON CAMPERS!!!

A nice pretty picture of the people I went with, we all wore tshirts with little things printed on. Mine for instance was “I Drink Coopers Creasote”
Hello People!

And last but not least one of the most impressive sights i have seen: People getting their beer cups together to form a snake. They moved it up and down the stand so the stewards wouldn’t get it, and in the end they gave up!!
It was worth it!

V for Victory

The Lord of Leisure | August 21, 2006

Yes I have returned from the V festival, very tired and very happy. It was a fantastic weekend, saw many acts, did some karoake too, and drank lots of beer. Though it was very expensive at the festival and therefore if you didn’t bring your own gear you would have spent a fortune.

There will be a proper update later, but for now here are a couple of taster pics, the one at the camp was the aftermath ealier this morning!!

We are knackered!

And the other was James Morrison who made a suprise appearence, he did well with just a guitar!!

What’s That coming over the hill?

The Lord of Leisure | August 18, 2006

Twas the day before the V festival and i am knackered and excited all at the same time, oh i think you could bottle it and sell at Asda!! This week of course saw a few events happen on the ol social, of course Salsa went on, and I think i am getting better at some moves like the crossstep and the doobray furkin, but the galla and the humpty dumpty with the twirly bit i am crap at.

Btw I should mention this now. The names of the moves escape me, they can’t call them something simple like the walking thing or spin around, no they call them comlicated names like dialic….dliad….dilicino… well anyway that word i can’t spell. Man-ley Grrr.

The gym, and mainly going out has taken a back seat really this week in preperation for V, except for Wednesday night where I met up with the lady of the moment, Natalie once again, we watched England win very convincingly againist Greece 4-0, A big bonus, but I doubt England can continue like that. But the big difference I saw was Terry Venables there on the bench with Mclean or whatever his name is. Terry may be a good force for england as he was before.

But anyway, moving on as they say, the night went very well, Nat showed me some of her clothes design work, and actual collections from the companies she worked for in Lithuana (can’t spell it but you get the message), and it was very good indeed actaully, though some people would get slightly annoyed as a lot of work was Fur coats. Of course I know people will get worked up about that, but still, it was good work. And apparently she is a dab hand at Photoshop too. Nice. :)

Back on the topic of V, I have the majority of the preparation done now, and i have something which will blow your minds, to the point where you think, this is the holy grail of life, if i have it i could die happy right now.

I have a Kag in a bag.

(cue godly music with angels singing) Yes my friends I have reached nirvana, the point of which life ceases to be mearly life and it becomes eternal joy. The kag in a bag completes it all!! Who ever thought of having a plastic coat that can wrap itself into a tiny bag needs a nobel peace prize.

Aside from that, my overdraft once again has been put into use getting supplies and bits and bobs for the festival, and yet i still expect to spend huge amounts of money while there. And of course there will be pics right here online when i finally get around to resizing the images as well as those from the Npower Match, England Vs Pakistan at Old Trafford, oh yes, pictures as well? Boy howdy I am spoiling you all. I will return on Monday afternoon to report on what went on with the group of lovely people that are going, hell we even have Jamie Oliver going (yes yes I know, not the real one).

Peace out for now, campers, and we shall speak soon. Meanwhile here is a image of an interesting newspaper letter, and it speaks volumes in my opinion…letter

It’s Good to be Bad

The Lord of Leisure | August 16, 2006

Hello campers, After a nice long weekend (well same two days anyway) I once again bring news from the world of me.

Friday of course the bowling went on in Telford with my comrades at work, with the wooden spoon we have for the loser to going to the new guy whose name escapes me at the moment but i am sure someone will pick up on it sooner or later. It was a rather grand affair with the regulars all going for the fun and Chris and Steve Camp going for, well each others throats…. :) You see, Mr Camp does get rather competative and this is reflected in his efforts. And as a result, everyone derives great joy to see him lose. (cue deep south american voice) We don’t take kindly to Winners round here!

Well afterwards we all trundeled off to Steve’s place in shrewsbury where we had very very nice indian takeaway, of course i had to have birani, love that with a bit of naan bread for the sauce! hmm…fattening. however it must be said that i went off on one during the evening when it came to the game known as “Athens 2004″ of which i aplogise to them. And no, it was in a bad way. I just got so frustrated with the game as a lot of it was fast button pressing and as some of you are aware, i am not the fastest person in the world. Don’t get me wrong I will play games, but it does get to me sometimes where i do that badly, it just frustrates me and i lose my temper.

It was of course completly stupidity on my part, but Steve did put on the one game i do seem to have a mastery at: Buzz the Music Quiz, possiblly becuase my frustration had kicked in that badly, and openly for the three others to see. I won by about 5000 points, but that did quell the ego beast. but still Steve, Matt and Mark you have my thanks gentlemen for putting up with that behavour that was uncalled for, and it will not be forgotten.

Saturday I was in Work, performing moves around the telford campus, well being honest i could use the extra money as I am constanly going overdrawn. Money’s too tight to Mention as Simply red says! It went alright except for other work not being done beforehand and it hindered our progress. can’t say much more as they say i’m not allowed to!!

In the afternoon, i did find time to upload the new logo as indicated in previous post, the few people who did see it, thought it was minted! Chris Wood, i annoyed by saying I was tired after working all day, and after the week I had was ready for sleep. Saturday night was good and quietish :)

Sunday nothing really happened. Went for a walk with Natalie through Oswestry talking about issues of the day. And i did my ironing!! Hooray!

Mini-Saga Update:
It appears everyone has now read this blog of mine, even KT who very helpfully wrote, “Grow up, you are being a childish g*t.” I responded with “Thank you for that vaulible piece of Advice, What can I do for you today?” No response, but i do feel the need to follow this up. KT has at least given a response to what was said, and in part I understand the reaction. By all means, some people will view the story as being vindictive, childish, and perhaps over-the-top. I do now view some of it to be distasteful.

I must state however that it was very much written with my emotions, and my perception of the events that have taken place. Normally my point of view is dismissed by most people as it can be viewed as unconsidered and stupid. Sometimes it is and others, far from it. This blog has given me the ablity to vent ideas and express myself in a new way i haven’t done so before. I signed up for bebo, but it seemed a waste of time.

I decieded to go full force and see what the result was. I suppose it was out of line in some ways, but I will not apologise for it. I fell a lot better now for getting it all off my chest publically, and perhaps now we all can move forward and try and put this sorry business behind us. Thanks for reading people and i do like the comments that get put here.

Woo, a new title

The Lord of Leisure | August 12, 2006

Yes I have finally come up with a tasty new banner for the blog page, The title was inspired by one of my friends at work, Mr Thompson aka Maggot, who when he gets frustrated by people, he can heard saying “Ohh, Sometimes”, which is a great phrase and as such is imortalised here!

And yes i am really being brave having an actual picture of me in the title too but hey, what’s the worst that can happen (sees red dot floating around wall behind me…)

The Middle East Issue

The Lord of Leisure | August 11, 2006

Yesturday of course we all saw the news of the plot that had been foiled of destroying aircraft in flights between the UK and the US. This of course led to way over the top security precatuions, delays, and of course panic.

This again all stems from the Arab grievences agnist the Israelies and the fact they occupy hold land etc, but seeing the size of the operation that the authorites stopped, it could not have been in response to the current fight with Hezbolah Vs Israel which of course is farsical at best. It seems that everyone wants to provoke each other and of course the other side is more than willing to fight. It is a complete waste of time, and frankly we should leave them alone to do as they wish. If they want to kill each other, let them.

Of course the subjet of interfearence stems beyond the west bank. Iraq and afganistan being the prime examples of the day, where the local population are out to kill our soliders becuase we went and removed the ruling regiemes. Of course in the case of Iraq, there can be no arguement that Saddam was a complete w*****r. he gased his own people, invaded Kuwait, and of course got a thrill out of having random people shot. He should have a Nobel Peace Prize shouldn’t he?

We all know the issue was the supply of oil to the west. Problem is that becuase we are so heavliy relaint of said fuel, we will continue interfearing in their affairs, which being honest i haven’t a clue what they are.

Becuase fossil fuels will begin dwindling or of course people getting upset and blowing things up, prices are high, which in turn has been driving other costs of living up, this trend surely cannot continue. We as devloped nations should be looking to alternative power. We already have cars running on Eletric and hydrogen for petes sakes!! Why are they not being adopted? Becuase the fuel companies surpressed the devlopement of said technology as it could affect their profits. However surely with the ever raising costs and the fact that supplies can come under attack from a number of sources, wouldn’t it be in their interests to push this through and be at the forefront so they can claim the glory and loads of money from being clean fuel? And of course no more reliance on unfriendly places: see all good :)

And as the Palistines and Israel: Well to me of course the vast majority does stem from World War 2, the mass displacement of the Jews by the germans was a key factor in why they settled in the west bank in my opinion. But anyway, they seem to not want to live next to each other in peace, (Holy Land issue) and i think the best way to deal with this to make everyone happy is to treat them like kids and take their toy away from them so they don’t have anything to fight over.

Evacuate the West bank, Jerealislem etc, and nuke it. Make the place toxic so no-one can live there. Either side would not win. Extreme of course, then again it seems only extreme action can stop this senceless fight.

Of course i don’t have all the facts etc, I know that some of this entry is silly, please feel free to post comments and i am more than happy to respond :)

Paul Hughes, Sitting at my desk!!
