24: Liverfool

The Lord of Leisure | September 25, 2006

Well friends, the space adventurer has landed here tonight after another gruelling weekend of intrigue, despair, and betrayal. The deepest darkest depths of the soul mapped out before my eyes like a Childs dot to dot, merely making the truth more obvious….

As you are all aware, Saturday I made the trip to Liverpool in honour of Simon’s birthday, and as you are also aware I had misgivings about the whole thing considering the last time I went, it didn’t really sell the place to me. In fact, twas the first time in over three years that I had been on a night out there at all. I agreed to go this time as well, as stupid as it sounds you have to give things a second chance, maybe even third and forth. And it was a chance to see some of the people I had fobbed off before and see if in fact if they could stand me in a public setting and I them.

This time I also had backup in the form of Natalie, and in case you are wondering, yes I am seeing her a lot and I consider myself off the market for the time being. I care for her a great deal (maybe putting that lightly :) and when I asked her if she wanted to go, she was more than happy to go with me, it seems it doesn’t matter what we do, she just wants to be with me. It is a very nice feeling and that doesn’t come around that often. Hell she even puts up with Stargate, (I will state for the record that Sian has gotten into that too and used to watch that with me, maybe its not a bad show :) what more could I ask for?

Moving on from the clearly gushy side of me, I could foresee a bucket shortage for all the puke, I was the one driving, more out of choice, I could pickup people, save them a bit of money, and I keep my wits about me, in case the residents of Scouse-Land were particularly “jolly” We all went to a Greek restaurant, having lots of food and drink, talking with various people I had never seen before and found to be quite interesting, something which I didn’t expect. Even had talks about somewhere called the Mall Galleries. Apparently tis a good place to sell art (I take cheques and cash for product placement).

We went to a pub / hip-happening and all that bollocks place with bars, and we had a few drinks with Natalie and I had a fair ol’ dance with the background music, it was rather bizarre but fantastic fun, and aside from the out of it woman who had too much of the sauce early on(don’t ask, I didn’t care then and I still don’t) everyone was keeping themselves to themselves. We ended up at a old mans pub / dance place, and the highlights aside from being with my fine lady friend, was dancing to Earth Wind and Fire, talking about the best way to get Simon, somehow involving shaving him with sellotape?

After which we all went home, stopped for some coffee and then proceeded along to Mancot, out stay for the night. Aunty Bett, who I had left in the care of Mum and Kerry for the night was at Mancot, so that she wasn’t alone. I keep swaning off and doing things and she gets left alone. Not fair really.

Sunday was a relaxed affair, with the day spent recovering from the night out, and took Aunty Bett, and Natalie home. Twas a good weekend, but a few things left undone. Like My COURSEWORK WHICH HAS TO BE IN ON THURSDAY!!! AGGGGHHHHH! (Cue hoards of panicky people, violence in streets and evil madman ending the world) Well it’s not really that bad, after all Steve did most of it last Thursday and our job is to tart it up and draw a conclusion! Sorry mate! Group report of a 1000 words about an ecommerce site. Never mind eh? Could be worse. In fact it will get worse!!

Well that is your lot for now. Just let you know as well I am back on the cat piss drinks to stay awake as I came off them and today have become sleepy again. Clearly this is not a good sign.

24: Day 5 of Red Bull Guzzling

The Lord of Leisure | September 23, 2006

Well it is now Saturday and day 5 of the expereiment to see what happens when you drink Red Bull, or it’s far cheaper cousins as I prefer!! Last night, discovered while on an imprompto night out in shrewsbury, that while I was awake, it appears my personality has been altered somewhat. The award winning sense of humour that I display on a daily basis, had been dulled and i was a lot slower in picking up what people say, My speech become disjointed, unable to say correctly what I was thinking.

For lack of a better way of putting it, I am drunk without being drunk. And I only started to realise this really once I stopped the red bull for a while last night and went to water. Dear god, this shit is deadly. While I have had no problem in staying awake for what I needed to achieve this week at work and at home, it appears the brain is still slowly but surely slowing down, and would perhaps reach a point where you still crash. That I don’t know.

I will need some of this stuff for tonight to at least keep some wits about me in Liverpool, but long term, I don’t know if this course of action is wise.

24: End of Day 2 on Cheap Asda Red Bull

The Lord of Leisure | September 21, 2006

So far I have stayed awake better but how it lasts is another thing. Also not sure if it still placebo effect, that I think i am more awake becuase of the drink or it is because it is filled with all sorts of stuff, like taurine (whatever the hell that is)

The experiment continues. Just a friendly note at half 1 in the morning letting you all know that techincally I am still alive, and also the timetable has changed slightly, but still don’t know what the final outcome is yet! Isn’t this exciting?

24: Time grows short…

The Lord of Leisure |

Well it has been a week tuesday that I last posted what’s been happening in Funkytown. It has been indeed another interesting one to say the least…

Well now first off, I took some time finally to stay at home for a change and have a tiny bit of rest. You see I have been feeling burned out for a couple of weeks, and it appears that the whole summer is catching up to me. I have been feeling tired all the time, i have been waking up later and later, and there have been a couple of times where I have been almost asleep at the wheel of the car, only slapping myself in the face (a pleasure which many people want but will never get) has kept me going. I have been wondering what the hell is wrong with me, and I have yet to reach a conclusion.

Is it true, that doing so much will eventually take some sort of toll on the body. Sure I have reached the real-time action clock-ticking showing what else is happening age of 24, but this doesn’t happen overnight. If anyone has any tips for staying awake more efficently, please please post a comment!!! I would be eager for any solutions. Even considering starting to gulp huge amounts of Red Bull (tastes like sick to me, but times may become desperate) and become a caffine addict if only to stay awake long enough to finish things i need to do.

College / Uni has stated again, with the topics of the day being “Web Design”, Glyn you can expect a call on that seeing as you are the web master, and it is well within your area of expertise: a ecommerce site linking to MYSQL via PHP pages. Systems Analysis, which seems to be the bullshit topic of Information Systems last year, just wanting more detail. And Network Concepts. Considering that to complete the assignments I have to do tasks which I do every day in my new Server management job, i may struggle….. :)

Actually the theory I will struggle with as I haven’t had to tell the difference between a hub and switch in years. I have just stayed in the real world without the OSI model, and just got on with it. DOH!! WHY GOD WHY DO YOU PUNISH YOUR CHILDREN SO!!!!!

Got hold of a few new albums, including Empire, the new scissor sisters, and Earth, Wind and Fire (only for that song, September, you know, Na de daa, say that you remember, laa de dah….) Anyway, moving on…

Salsa, and in fact till thursday going out even to the gym took a back seat. Went to my gym thursday but was really really tired after doing the same workout I always do without too much difficulty. EEP. Even did slightly less as a result. Thursday alas was college day, and afterward, I travelled to Shifinal to wish My old team leader, Mr Steve Hicks, a fond farewell after he moved jobs a week after I did. He is a great bloke and I could never fault him. Twas the least he deserved. Missed my old pal Asif, who travelled back to birmingham after, but rest assured, i’ll get you next time, bwahahahahaha! Even so, seeing all of DTS was great, tis a shame they are not with me in Fujitsu. If you met them, you would understand. And after that went to Cocos, and partied the night away again with Squiz, Dorris and Squiz’s missus, Craig turned up at some point, and everone did the same game of wandering around again!! Got bored of looking for people, and just ended up dancing an awful lot with aformentioned lady friend of mate. Best part was Zombie Nation coming on. Who on earth cannot not get pumped to that song? Tis the best dance track ever made boys and girls. If you don’t have it, I demand to know why.

Friday, well what can I say, after finsihing work late, losing Mark it seemed as He worked late, and I forgot to make a note of his mobile number before heading to Steve’s, we enjoyed a delightful night on the town of shrewsborugh (not bury, I have now dubbed it borugh) Though it wasn;t exactly to plan, dopey pormised us Daily Star Girls, with Football kick about, with dancing girls afterward. Turns out we were two weeks early! DOH X 200!! Needless to say we reminded him all night. Also drank a fair amount, eyehumped the ladies as usual, and had a great time with those two. Never a dull moment as they say.

Spent saturday morning in shrewsbury with Matt, generally talking about certain issues which I won’t mention here as it is too dull, and there is too much soap opera about as it. But I do enjoy those chats with Matt. He seems to have his own mind, and of course. subway sandwich filled with meatballs that went everywhere. mmmmmm…..

Saturday afternoon, went back home and had an eye test. I only mention it as it appears my right eye has got better. Thought too much wa*king made you blind? Still never mind. Spoke to natalie after I hadn’t seen her all week, and she has been keeping herself busy, it’s been strange this week mearly texting and not seeing her like normal. Still will see her this week to make up for my absence. Also spoke to Simon ahead of next weekend’s trip to Liverpool. Yes, despite my HUGE, repeat, HUGE, reservations about the Liverpool experience (see one birthday night out there some years ago) I have decieded to go and give it another shot. Dave and Chris either wisely or foolishly (depending on how it goes :) are unable to make it.

Kerry, the sister of this dramatis personea, came to stay the weekend, and well, I didn’t look forward to it. She has for the longest time been a source of agony for many people including me, and I had chosen not to assiocate myself with her. However the time had come for an “intervention” and the truth to be told. Becuase of her actions, she was a billy no mate, and i stated that there is something wrong with her. Well coming from me, granted it sounds stupid, but it was not far from the real truth. After some shennigans which followed after, it appears that we had a breakthough. She concieded that things had gone wrong and we proceeded to talk about why, and how. She aplogised to someone (keeping vague because otherwise trouble will no doubt come my way!! Sorry! Mind you saying that, I have said too much before :) for her actions, and it appears that now she wants my help to get better. There is much to do, and tis only been two days now so only time will tell if the war queen will ride again. But all is good now, so I will take that as a small victory.

Annoyed Chris slightly for being very late as a result of the intervention, as we were meant to meet to ogle ladies or watch a film, but in the end it all worked out, We saw that tanktarta nights film, with Will Ferrall. Not a bad film, god bless the redneck stereotype!! Caught with the old mucka who has a good week himself being off the whole time, but he’s had a bit of upset himself so this was much needed. Poor lad.

Sunday was a lazy day recooperating after the past few days, and also setting up the virtual web sever in VMware for College. As you can see, all good!!

Scene: Warehouse, Southside Oswestry

Int: Paul Hughes, Space Adventurer restrained with copious amounts of rope, while looking like he has been through hell. A shawdowy figure walks around, keeping the face out of the light.

Paul: You think you can get away with this?
Shadowy Figure: Of course I can, I already am in fact. Even as we speak, the tides of war are hovering over this land, and a new order will reign. Humanity will finally face the consequences of its actions.
Paul: There are so many innocent people out there! Why would you do this? After what i have been through, at least tell me why.

The shadowy figure steps into the light, the space adventurer’s heart quickens, as the awful truth is revealed in the strangers face. It was….

Ah, well that’s a story for another time! Hello campers, Naturally I can tell you have all been dying to know what the weekend held for me as of course, twas the day of the second coming, either that or my birthday, but the jury’s still out on that!! LOL!

I have turned 24, which means for the next year, I will live like Jack Bouer, fighting bad guys, in real time with a clock bit which will reveal what other people are doing at the same time etc etc….Hence the opening sequence of suspence. You open big on things like this!! But anyway, The weekend of course kicked off, rather unexpeditly on friday night, as first I got in touch with Mr Tebbut about the missed weekend of bank, and what life was affording him these days, and right now I must thank him most publicly for something no sane person should be without. Well the picture will explain:

Quit your jibber jabber!

Isn’t that the sexist thing I have ever posted on the blog of what!!?!?!?
After the conversation with my fellow crimelord, I was going to prepare a few bits and bobs, settle down for a nice cup of goo, and genrally freak out as we all do (don’t deny it), when Ms Natalie contacts me for a nice drink out in Shrewsbury with a fellow who randomly picked her up from a bus stop as you do. I said fair enough. However what started out ok quickly turned silly, as it turned out the Pub in question, was not in Shrewsbury, it was in some unknown deepest outback south countryside!!! I eventually turned up, and the fella turned out to be a nice man, who apparently is a programmer from Leeds who used to live around here and was back for a week. GSOH as they say on those adverts where people try to pick each other up, but ulitmalty fail as they are too stingy to pay for the service to contact the other people.

Bit of a tangent but the point remains the same!!

Saturday, actaully was a bit of a f**k up in terms of what I did want to do. Becuase i overslept from the night before (easy tigers) The little list I had of things to do, like sort my watch (encounter with the ski machine in the gym!) Mow the lawn, kill next doors cat for shitting in the garden, and visit the parents (who I thank for the t-shirts for my birthday along with Kerry, Thank you Family!!) sort of got pushed back, so things kept happening later and later during the day. That’s one of the things that I have gotten very very bad at now. I have become late for everything. Whenever I say I will be somewhere at sometime, it is a certainty that I will be at least an hour at least. Don’t know how it’s happened or why, but it disturbs me greatly, and I wonder how to change that. Does anyone know any time management courses? :)

The nighttime was unplanned really. Sian invited me out (Stop it at the back)for a night out in Wrexham, which hadn’t really been bad to be honest, the prevoius times we had been out for dave’s birthday, was when I met Colin and got back in touch after how many years. But anyway, it was Me, Sian and Ruth as apparently Laura dropped out due to wanting to “hang out with the boys”. : ) But still, it was nice seeing them both, and it was Ruth’s first ever trip to Oswestry. It was rather bizzare seeing her where I live, where sian for the time, it was the norm. Suppose I felt giddy!! Boy Howdy!

We went to Lloyds, where a pulling contest was decieded on, thanks to one slighty drunk ruth. Oh yes, I have excelled at that in the past, haven’t I? F**k me, there’s more chance of me having plastic sugery to remove my man breasts than successfully pulling a nice woman in a club (well, for the record, I met Natalie in a club so I guess anything is possible. But then again she is the only one, and I would not meet anyone like her normally in a club, so perhaps it was just a freak occurence. She has made me feel happy again, that women aren’t all bad again, so only good has come from that. Maybe clubs aren’t all bad either….who am I kidding?!?!)

We went into envy liquid, or whatever it’s called, but i went in the wrong bit and ended up paying just for the prvilege of going round the full club, whereas the ladies got in free. DAMN!!! There was a while while I was in the Liquid bit where all sorts of people were asking me when it all opening up, becuase the way I was dressed (Smart black shirt, trousers, with White tie) they throught I was a bouncer! Hmm, maybe could have used that angle!!

But yes back to the night proper, there were a couple of women who did keep looking at me, or so Sian says, with my learning difficulties, I wouldn’t know! Ruth apparently pulled someone, and haven’t a clue about Sian. Still a good night was enjoyed, and it was a lot better than the staying in that I was going to do, having no clue of what to do for the birthday this year. Guess i should plan better! Cheers girls, it was nice. And as an added bonus It was nice to see ruth, if only to know she was still about!!

Sunday, after still being slightly hungover, and dazed, took Natalie to Chester as, she had never been before, and it would be a good place for her to take photos of some of the arcutecture, shop a wee bit, and walk around. She was like a kid in a candy store, and worse than the japaniese tourists with that camera of hers!! The sun was shinning for us which made the day very good indeed. Took some birthday texts from Chris and Dave (and others of course). I felt rather good for the ripe ol age of 24. Today at work, I was realing from the effects of the weekend, boy I was tired, but it was worth it.

Hell, Tonight, Dave and Chris visited me at home, wishing me a great birthday, and just spending time talking about issues of the day, I asked about whether or not, that becuase My attitude has changed from not caring to now caring what other people think, and trying to be nice, that I haven’t had as much fun recently, and there is something at the back of my head now, wondering about what I do. Which is better? Live the Life of “Say what you see, and damn the consequences” or restrain yourself, be nice, and “tolerate” things that people do. One was fun, but the other is more considered of other people. I can see merits in both of course, but for me, the Say what you see attitude did actually get results, even if it hurt people. It just felt like progress was made. Now I don’t know. Hell, some of that even the reason for the deletions on this blog.

But anyway, THANK YOU CHRIS: I can’t believe I got the Collectors boxset of Doctor Who Series 1. It was very very generous, ta very much fella!! Dave has something in store for me too. But that will wait till the next time I see them. Ta very much everyone for the great gifts, Mike the neighbour for the tie and Cufflinks, Aunty Bett for the money, Sian for the wine, BO Basher (yes I always said i smell), Natalie, for the Tie and eau du toilet. All of you that are mentioned here, thank you again.

I guess after all that I should leave you all alone again, and in the meantime, take this with you: That weekend was as intense as the time I forgot how to sit down….

You win some, you lose some, then you win some again?!?!

The Lord of Leisure | September 5, 2006

Wow three updates in one night, god I must be bored!! Nah fact fans, the space adventurer is mearly taking time out from his busy schedule to bring yet more pearls of wisdom and rays of sunshine out of his arse!

The weekend has provided an awful of closure on events past gone, such as the Mini-Saga, which I now know can’t be a mini-saga, as it is more than 50 Words. Thank you Sian for that contribution!! LOL! Yes, it’s true, I have patched things up with the woman, and we are friends. Perhaps you are wondering why?

Well the fact of the matter was that I did over react, and besides, if you keep in touch with colourful past girlfriends, the future always seems to be nothing if not interesting. I don’t mean that in a bad way btw. I like interesting. Just Interesting can mean so many different things to people. Then again I could spark the whole debate of what’s normal and how normal means different things to people, but I will save that for another entry.. : ) And another point was made, was the fact that people found it hard to hate me as a bastard as the only mistake I seem to have made is the Blog Entry about Sian. Quite an eye opener methinks, maybe I am not such a bad guy after all. F**K!! I am going to have to try harder dammit!!

I have even spoken to KT for the first time in ages, and all though it still appears I am still the realm of KT mearly tolerating my existance, which is understandable, it is at least a step in the right direction I guess. maybe. possibly. Though the whoopee cushion didn’t go down well there. I like being childish. More fun that way!!! Anyway mon campers, It appears that despite this blog starting agony with a few people I know, it has had a suprising result of people opening up themselves, telling the full stories of past and present, and now progress has been made, perhaps for the first time in years in some cases. It went from being a good thing to a bad thing then a good thing again? How bizzare and random! I like random too btw!

Steve Irwin of course, has died and has hit the news worse than ongoing suffering and misery in the rest of the world. He did provide entertainment though, sheding light on animals, the environment, and you have to feel for the family that he leaves behind. They have my sympathies and many others too.

However the way he died, and considering what he did for a living has also been the major producer on jokes on the internet, which of one I had to show here as it was funny, albeit slightly sick. And I have never been accused of being anything other than sick before!! LOL! It always amazes me how fast people can react to certain events.

It also appears that My birthday is upcoming on the 10th, where I will be wait for it: 24

(cue angelic music, then I act like Jack Bauer for the rest of the year in real time…maybe)

Regretably, unlike last year, where I buggered off to London with my sister to watch a West End Show, comedy club and get drunk, ended pole dancing in Yates, Leciester Square with two chinese women while fellas watched us, after the summer I have had, I forgot to sort something out!! DOH!! Never mind, there is always Wrexham on Saturday night with three lovely ladies, all of which are deeply sexually alluring and great to have fun with. What more could a man want? Well we all know the answer to that don’t we ; )

No, not a Hedge Trimmer….crazy fool….

The blessed day itself, well that’s a good question. I still don’t know fully how the day will turn out, but dave and chris wanted to pop along to oswestry for a chat and food, and I was supposed to be in Chester for the day, hmm plans it appears never go according to what ye want. Then again perhaps becuase i have been in high demand (that’s a 9 on the bullsh*t meter) then these schedule conflicts are bound to happen, still as I have said on many occasions: Bros before Hoes. Seems that is harder to live up to than I ever thought. Bugger. What do I do now, dad? LOL!!

Went back to Salsa on Monday after a brief pause of two weeks mainly due to other commitments and being knackered. My god, I am crap!! Seems I am fine when dancing alone, but when dancing with the ladies, it goes t*ts up!! NOOOOOO! Boo who and woe is me! Because as we all know, Women equate men’s dancing to how well they perform in the bedroom (or other places if that is your sort of thing). Don’t ask me why, it was research done by scientists or other bored people ages ago. (Will wait for the comments to come flying in on that)

I do need to catch up with some more people now as by the looks of things, Uni starts again the 14th September, and therefore I should be at home more in order to do this. Colin Blanchard I have neglected for a while now, and I need to catch with the MySpace crowd, all of which seem to be people from Hard-on High (Sorry Hawarden) School, of which it was rather bizzare that we didn’t talk much (well ok the correct way of putting was, my existance was bearly acknowledged) when we were in school, then less than 48 hours after doing the MySpace Site, Louise Drew and Hayley Picken no less get in contact, two ladies who I fancied back then, and I must say look fantastic now!

Must not forget Lee, though from his picture, he looks a filthy little so and so, which is what he was in school as it goes, so i guess some things never change. LOL, Hello Lee!! I must also get down to doing up the myspace site with the content from Cricket etc, and also mirroring the blog updates more regularly. Stick it on the things to do list as they say.

Well after that long update, it’s the end of the show, tune in next time for more fun and frolicks with the occasional graphic sex scene thrown in, with Paul Hughes, Space Adventurer!

Right, where’s me cup of tea and slippers?

Fujitsu: Part of the Evil Takazuki Corporation

The Lord of Leisure |

Well friends, now it has been a few days into my new job at Fujitsu, I thought I would enlighten, well mainly the geeks who read this page on what has gone on so far:

So far I haven’t screwed up anything big, which is really surprising actaully as it appears I have forgotten so much of my previous knowledge it is borderline: What the hell am I doing again? :)

But I have begun learning new things again which I wanted to look at for a long time, like Active Directory, DNS, (WINS is still used for the time being until it is all fully swapped over from NT to 2003) and this has been the very first job where I am using new OS in a working environment and I have been made very welcome by Mr Comaish, my new boss, who seems to have made sure I have everything I need to get going. Becuase I have known a lot of people from my Backup & Recovery days there, it has taken next to no time in settling in. Which was nice.

The way you work is different to DTS. It seems you are left to your own devices providing you are maintaining the service expected, and that is fair enough. Your own initative very much comes into play, and it is a welcome change. Now if only I knew what to do….. : ) And the best part of it so far, has been telling Desktop Support on Live how to change things, instead of doing them yourself. Work Slaves, Work!!! WOOOO, I have power, bwahahahaha!!!
