24: I have a new toy!

The Lord of Leisure | March 27, 2007

A brand new 1.4 litre VW POLO!! it had only 400 miles when it came into my grubby mitts. It amazed me when it turned up yesterday!! Now before anyone thinks what a good turn of events, it is a hire car provided by Swinton until all the claims are sorted out.

It is a great drive, has no real problem getting up hills, steers real well, it’s confy and well, I can’t afford one of these i’m afraid. But for however many days I do have with it, i will enjoy while it lasts. I just feel giddy at the moment. But the harsh realities will turn up soon enough I guess.

I have tommorow and friday off to do uni work, working friday night and Saturday, and then hopefully sunday get to have some more fun. Take it easy campers, and I shall update more soon.

Good News Everybody!

The Lord of Leisure | March 26, 2007

The swift is no more. It has been finally deemed beyond economical repair, and it appears a temp car is coming this afternoon to Oswestry.

I found this out after recieving a phone call, asking me to pop down with the swift, so off i go, driving from Work in Telford back to the repair place that was arranged by Norwich Union, they told me it was borderline, depending on the suspension. Before they had examined it, i was told it was roadworthy, but after they looked underneath, it was deemed unsafe.

Spent more time on the phone with people trying to get sorted out, and i was slightly concerned at that point as the garage said we don’t provide them if they are written off. Which for a while at least, meant I was stuck in the middle of no-where with alsorts of crap in the back of the car, and the MP3 CD Player (no damn way I was leaving that behind! It was a great present from Haydn, Dave and Chris for my birthday a while back), no taxis were avalible for a while, but alls well that ends well, the garage in their kindness, offered me a lift back. So here I am typing away on my laptop at home, after losing another day at work. Christ the loops you have to go through, borderline worse than the actual incident!!

Also got back to see that there had been a hub of activity on the ol’ myspace page, lots of bands suddenly asking me to be a friend, and a personal trainer from wrexham. I will respond in due course to comments good people, just got a few bits to sort out first.

24: An Update after the last few days…

The Lord of Leisure | March 25, 2007

Well Campers, i have had a few eventful days after the crash, mainly having a headache talking to the insurance people, as they try to establish who was to blame. I now know that the general rule of thumb is the person who drives into you is the one to blame. However the way i felt i didn’t know what to think, and I keep on thinking it is my fault somehow.

Was told to see the doctor to make 100% sure nothing was wrong and nothing was wrong save the old nerves. Tried to give my insurance details to the other fella on Friday night, but he didn’t want them. Seems bizarre but others assured me this was an admission of blame to not want them. Who knows? Come Monday this little tiny saga may flare up depending on the insurance companies or the other little scotum invloved.

Friday, I was also in contact with Work a lot over the work I was meant to perform during the day, with the duties taken over by Daya in the team, who sorted it all out in the end by rebooting one of the SQL cluster nodes. Nice.

Saturday, was given a ring by Glyn to make sure I was alright, and his mum gave sound advise. Many thanks to you campers, it helped a great deal. Mum and Kerry came around for Aunty Bett’s birthday and they were very supportive too. Aunty bett got a lot of flowers, cards and gardening equipment. A very good haul, and the best bit was the huge cake for her.

Saturday night, went out to a local resterante, the Queen’s Head, had a nice chat about things, had some wine, some fish. All good. Got home rather early but still felt a wee bit better.

The best thing I guess, as a result of all this recent trouble, is I got to do what I wanted to recoporate. I played WOW for the first time in over a month and a half and got addicted again just like before, replayed Psyconauts becuase i like the game, and even started on Painkiller. Just random shooting at Enermies helped a lot really, think it was resolving my pent up anger after what happened. Watched a lot of Futurama for the first time in ages, and even that episode of South Park, with russell crowe fighting around the world! This felt like a true weekend off doing work and not worrying about anything else. The only downside really, was that atm without knowing how reliable the car is, I can’t travel to see the lady friend. Don’t want to risk it just yet, in case something else happens.

The problem is, the worrying starts again Monday, as i have to go back to a “normal” rountine. Hopefully the wednesday and Friday has been approved, so a good concentration for Uni can be had. Think wednesday I will finish the Multimedia Assignment, about the City of Bath. Provided of course, it depends on how this car business turns out.

Plans are in the air atm, just a case of wait and see.

AND, about the last podcast. No feedback yet, however it is now featured on Crashing Cairo’s Myspace page for their followers to listen to. (http://www.myspace.com/crashingcairo) So I got some exposure now, wonder if more people will go for the rantings I do. Come to the UK, guys, we’ll have a beer and a good natter! After the last few days, I have enough material to say the least!

Well as it is late, and i do wonder what fresh hell awaits me, i am calling it a night. Take care of yourselves, and once again thanks to those who contacted me to see that I was OK. Made a real difference.

Wonderful News

The Lord of Leisure | March 22, 2007

Some chav ran into me as i was parking up in Oswestry after work this evening around quarter to 9. What happened was I was pulling up, pretty sure i indicated to turn left, swung out slightly to the right to turn left which perhaps i should not have done, and just going through the gate when i felt the bump and the car skidded around.

The swift’s left side is quite badly damaged and the wheel was hit but like to be still on. The other guys car looked worse off, so he must have hit with some force. Phoned the police, got the incident number, they wouldn’t come out as no-one was hurt and the road was not blocked.

Had a word with the guy and I apprantly indicated to turn right, not left. And moved without warning. So it was my fault. However i didn’t see him in the read view mirror and didn’t even know he was there until the hit. Didn’t see him coming.

Have his details cortesy of his dad, and his dad said he’s got to learn to slow down, even though it is all my fault according to the chav in question.

I am being a git about him, as his darling girlfrined turned up, being protective of him, and saying how his car is banged up, GEE FUCKING WHZZ, so is mine!! And other chav girl people drove past around and around gorping and having fun, finally stopped, talking to the chav and he was going fucking this bastard that and the other. Cheers mate, you a great guy who should have a prize. He didn’t say anything back about this when I said “Thanks mate, saying fuck this fuck that, really helpful.” I can’t believe this was all my doing in the least. I feel so angry right now, and hell the worst part about it is i don’t remember half of what was going on, so for all i now know, he was 100% right. Or He was a speeding nonce who couldn’t brake in time. Got to try and think what happened properly.

Fantastic, eh? My first car “incident” with another car. What a joy that is. And goodbye to cheap insurence in any case, they always stick the premium up regardless who it was.

LOL, you know i said I wanted a new car, looks like i have no choice in the matter, which now kind of screws up the rest of the year financially and beyond now. Great.

Brief

The Lord of Leisure | March 19, 2007

Long Weekend. Lots of goings on in Personal Life. Failed to do any work on Uni, falling way behind on that, beginning to worry me greatly. Saw Natalie, had alright time and found out i had offended rather badly. Not the first time offended anyone but this was rather serious. Saw mum on mother’s day. Feel depressed at the moment. Shit. Podcast being recorded now.

got home!

The Lord of Leisure | March 14, 2007

well got home just now in no short order, watched the last ever episode of Stargate SG1 was wasn’t as good as I was hoping but then again, the DVD Films will be out later this year, so maybe it will get no holds barred.

Even got hold of Dave and Chris while at work and hopefully getting something sorted for friday and beyond. Talked to Glyn on MSN, while the copy process continued, so all in all, it wasn’t a complete wasted night at work! Tommorow will bring uni, and let’s see what happens. Might even get a shock. Who Knows? Well Good night people, take it easy and I will update soon.

24: The update of updating on the art to date up on…

The Lord of Leisure |

Sorry, i am still at work at 6:30 in the evening despite working since 8 this morning, and I am annoyed. Annoyed frankly at people’s ablity to fob things off when you need help the most, in fact the real helpful people have been at all places: Microsoft, have been on the phone with their support about a really nasty problem with a crap piece of their software called Application Center 2000.

In fact as we speak I am preparing the full log files etc to upload to some workspace created by their Product Support Reporting tools, which you only ever use if you have to raise a case with MS. Isn’t this dull and boring the pants off you? It certainly is me!!

Anyway, the weekend was a hectic one which i will leave for the podcast. survice it to say there were a change in the ol plans, of which i have said sorry for missing out on Mandy’s Birthday Bash. Seen Natalie for a chat about things, and regretfully the majority of my time has been spent on bloody work. AGAIN! At least i will get some money and maybe even a promotion on the horizon, according to my boss as it appears I doing very well. Never mind.

I still would prefer to be doing other things really, and not even the uni work, ugh still have that to do after all this rubbish. You see this is the problem with aspirations and ambition. It appears there is far too much work invloved with it.

Still I have some good plans ahead for the weekend, including recording the podcast which will take a slight detour off what i normally ramble about, but it should peak your interests at least. Bye Kids!
